JERRY GARCIA, MEETS MOTOWN'S FUNK BROTHERS, MEETS BOB MARLEY
Original compositions and interpretations of classic rock (e.g., Dylan, Beatles, U2, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye, Grateful Dead, etc.)
HISTORY In 1980, Mr Charlie launched at a farm pig roast called "Charlie's" Party. The music was questionable, but the friends & laughter, unforgettable.
Mr Charlie's professional debut was at The Galaxy in Somerdale, NJ. This high-class venue stuck a bucket under the bathroom sink for plumbing.
Mr Charlie's second and many subsequent performances were at Electric Factory Concert's very cool Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia (until it closed).
The group moved to the Ripley Music Hall on South Street, owned by restaurateur, Stephen Starr (before it closed). So Mr Charlie moved to the Chestnut Cabaret (until it closed...is there a trend here?).
The Stone Pony in Asbury Park (still open!) was next. In 1982, the group rested (Mr Charlie closed).
The 1990's, Mr Charlie roars back! Performed at Rittenhouse Sq (WXPN) for 2,500, some dancing on roof-tops (fortunately no one fell off). Maui, Rock Lobster, Pier 34 (before it fell into the Delaware River & closed) and an outdoor solo show on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia before a crowd 15,000.
The Tin Angel, was Mr Charlie's last show in the 90's.
Mr Charlie is back and ready to rock.
